We welcome you to the Annual International Children’s Day,
a Sarasota – Manatee community festival for the entire family to enjoy.
The International Children’s Day is a celebration of our shared diverse international culture and heritage. This is a fun-filled day of international food, art, crafts, music, dance, games and a parade. The festival brings world geography to life through hands-on activities that give children a taste of some of the traditions of many of the countries and the rich heritage from which we came to live in America.
Some of the fun activities parents and children will enjoy include: learning how to make a tortilla; creating an origami figure; weaving fine threads; getting your hair braided in a Jamaican twist with beads; learning a folk dance or a foreign martial art; and much more. Families will enjoy eating authentic international foods, watching cultural performances, and shopping for unique gifts at the global village marketplace.
This will be a wonderful day for your entire family, we promise! Come and enjoy, and stay for the Parade of Nations. Perhaps you and your children might want to come dressed in traditional costume, representing one of the cultures from your family heritage. Gary Reinstrom of The Jacobites Band, a Scottish Bagpiper and Troubadour will lead the International Parade. Mark your calendars!
